Gamepass sharing

My friend and I usually rotate paying for gamepass for each month to save some money so we use gamepass sharing via home Xbox. My subscription just ran out today so I tired to hop on since he has gamepass and his accounts home Xbox is set to my Xbox, but it keeps saying I don’t have gamepass. Every other multiplayer game we play works perfectly fine with this method. Is this intended or just a bug that’s not supposed to be happening? I really hope this is able to be fixed so we’re both able to play together. Gamepass sharing has been a thing for years now and I’ve never seen a game forcefully stop it from being possible. Any feed back would be much appreciated
