Unable to launch Marathon on Xbox Series X — STINGRAY error
Hello,
I am experiencing an issue that prevents me from launching Marathon on my Xbox Series X.Every time I try to start the game, I receive the STINGRAY error.
Here are the relevant details:
•Console: Xbox Series X
•Subscription: Active Xbox Game Pass
•Xbox Live connection: connection test is •perfect (no network errors)
•Game: installed and up to date
•Xbox account: properly signed in
•Console set as my Home Xbox
Troubleshooting already attempted (none of these solved the issue):
•Full power cycle of the console
•Signing out and back into my Xbox account
•Restarting my internet router
•Checking Xbox Live service status
•Reinstalling the game
•Verifying game access on my profile
Despite all these steps, the STINGRAY error persists and the game will not launch.
Could you please help me resolve this issue or verify whether my access to the game is correctly recognized on Bungie’s servers?

STINGRAY is a sign‑on / platform error that usually means the game is getting blocked at the platform level (PSN/Xbox/Steam) rather than by Marathon’s own servers.
A few things to try:
Fully restart everything
Check for outages and updates
Confirm entitlements / account
I have a same issue. Started a topic for it early on today. Non of the steps worked.

Yeah same situation. Idk why it's happening but it drives me soft. Especially because I pre ordered a deluxe edition. My team mate is having a blast and I'm stuck in forums. It's oddly comforting I'm not the only one tho.

I contacted Xbox Support regarding the STINGRAY error.
They confirmed that:
My Game Pass is active
My Xbox Live account is working correctly
My licenses are valid
The Microsoft Store recognizes that I own Marathon
My console is set as Home Xbox
All troubleshooting steps have been completed
There are no platform‑side issues on my account
Xbox Support told me that this is a server‑side entitlement issue on Bungie’s end, and that the game is failing to validate my ownership even though everything is correct on the Xbox side.
Could you please escalate this case or manually refresh my entitlement on Bungie’s servers?

Honestly, it starts being annoying and frustrating…
I followed the advanced steps recommended by Xbox Support, including:
• Signing out of my Xbox account on all devices
• Forcing a full console shutdown
• Clearing all cached authentication tokens
• Reconnecting cleanly
• Opening the Microsoft Store and accessing the Marathon page to trigger a fresh entitlement check
Despite all of this, the STINGRAY error still appears.
Xbox Support confirmed again that:
• My licenses are valid
• My Game Pass is active
• My console is correctly set as Home Xbox
• My account is working normally
• There are no platform-side issues
• This is likely a server-side entitlement issue on Bungie’s end
At this point, could you please escalate my case and manually refresh my entitlement on Bungie’s servers?

Still struggling with the same issue and these guys are not responding ! All my games are working except this Marathon game…
I have an Open post too and I got zero responses after the initial one. It's starting to drive me mad atp.
What’s going on is just crazy… I will not hesitate to do review on them and it will be very salty !
