Possible Fixes for AMD Graphics Issues and PC Crashes During Playtest
Hello Bungie Support Team,
I’m currently participating in the Marathon playtest and wanted to share some solutions I found for two major issues that seem to be affecting a lot of players, especially those using AMD graphics cards.
I personally experienced both problems and was able to resolve them. I hope this information can help other players fully enjoy the game.
-
Graphics Issues (black buildings, characters and weapons not loading, major visual glitches)
This appears to be a driver-related issue. I’m using an RX 580, and I fixed the problem by rolling back my GPU driver to version 23.5.2. After downgrading to that specific AMD driver version, all graphical issues were resolved.
-
PC Crashing After a Few Minutes In-Game
The second issue caused my entire PC to crash after several minutes of gameplay. From my testing, this seems to be related to GPU power spikes, which can be a recurring issue with some AMD cards.
There are two possible solutions:
-
The more permanent solution: upgrading the power supply unit (PSU).
-
The simpler workaround: enabling V-Sync in-game or limiting FPS to 60 or 144. Reducing the GPU load this way prevents the power spikes that were causing the crashes.
After applying these fixes, the game runs perfectly on my system.
I hope this feedback can help other players who are facing the same problems so they can fully enjoy the playtest experience.
Thank you, and happy hunting to everyone!
