Choppy, flickery framerate in fullscreen only

When in windowed the game runs at 120 FPS, even if the window is my entire screen. When in fullscreen, it becomes choppy and unplayable with a terrible inconsistent framerate.

    Hi there,

    Thanks for reaching out!

If this happens again please use your platform's share feature to capture a clip highlighting the issue you're experiencing and upload it to YouTube, then send us the link here along with your Bungie name (including the # and 4 digits), system specs and the approximate date/time of occurrence. We'll be glad to take a look!

  • "My platform's share feature"? Does that mean you support/allow Proton on Linux finally? (Get on with it. BattlEye is supported on Linux.)

I messed around with things a whole bunch, and even though I have an AMD GPU+CPU, NVIDIA Reflex is set to On by default. When I turned on "On + Boost" it suddenly locked to 120FPS in Fullscreen. Changing Reflex settings after that did nothing; it stayed locked 120. It also briefly locked to 120 when I turned Windows 11 Game Mode On but then went back to a stuttery mess after relaunching the game. You can kinda see that in the video below, but it un-resolved much faster. So it seems to be a mix of AMD system with Reflex trying to work even though it cannot, and some issue with Windows Game Mode on top of that.

It is also worth noting this issue was not present when I first launched the game and only occured after some time. This issue was also present in the closed Technical Test and also was fine initally but eventually turned into a stuttery mess in fullscreen, also.

  • I fixed the issue, if you just disable v-sync full screen mode feel's just as smooth as windowed, with v-sync enabled my frames were hovering around 130-150fps with disabled it shot up to 200-230fps

  • it's hilarious that they have an automated response for an issue like this, like just take five seconds to test the game yourself developers and you'll figure out how to fix his issue
