    Hi there,

Please see our Marathon Storage and System Requirements guide to ensure your system meets the current minimum specs. If it does, please try installing the game on another disk to rule out potential hardware issues.

If you meet the minimum required specs and notice any further consistency to when the crashes occur, please let us know!

  • Same with me and my friend haven’t lost anything yet but pretty frustrating.

  • I have a 1TB of free storage, a Ryzen 7 9800X3D, NVIDIA GeForce 3060 Ti, 32gb Ram, and I am on windows 10.

Since I last wrote this the same thing happened twice and happened to my friend once more again, we think it has something to do with the DCON it has only crashed when the DCON icon was on the map or when we pinged the DCON. It has only happened on Perimeter.

  • Happening to me too and not a hardware issue. It has happened on Perimeter and Dire Marsh and always when I press M to open my map. The game freezes for 3-5 seconds and crashes. The map screen doesn't appear. It has happened les than 5 times since launch and did not happen at all in 48 hours of Server Slam play as far as I remember.

    CPU - AMD Ryzen 9 9900X3D
Motherboard - MSI MAG X870E Tomahawk
    GPU - NVIDIA RTX 5080
    RAM - 64GB DDR5

Game is installed on a 2TB NVMe drive which is separate from the boot drive.

  • Same is happening to me as well - have tried some of the troubleshoots of even reinstalling on another drive, but still happened. Twice last night, and just had it happen again tonight.

    CPU - Ryzen 9 9950X3D.
    RAM - 64GB DDR5.
    GPU - NVIDEA RTX 5080.
I also have 2x M.2 NVMe SSD's - both of which have had this issue.

I have also done file verification too.
I also have a friend that this bug has affected as well and their setup is much lower spec's than mine - so this to me doesn't seem like a hardware incompatibility issue.

    EDIT:
No idea if it's the same for anyone else, but mine seems to only happen on Perimeter

  • Thanks for the added details! We're investigating a rise in similar reports on certain AMD CPUs and hope to have it resolved as soon as possible.

  • I have this issue every now and then on an Intel-based system. My friends have also had this issue mid run.

  • I’ve had this occur to me on three separate runs, eventually was able to reconnect to the first two, game refused to cooperate and led to two of our crew not exfiling an otherwise successful run:

    Intel (R) Core i7-10700F
Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660 Ti (6GB)
    1.36 TB disk space

  • Also having this issue, several times per day. It specifically crashes as I open the map (the map doesn't load, it crashes mid-animation).

  • Having the exact same issue, frequently, and it is very frustrating in this type of game and play environment. After about 10-15 min in the run if I open the map, I hard crash to desktop. Sometimes I can reconnect, but the infil animation is like 4 fps and struggles, then I can't move and items are wonky for about a minute after loading back in. I have lost so many exfils and loot. =(      BUNGIE, please fix this.

1 TB SSD with plenty of storage available. I don't hoard games on that drive.

  • I've also had this occur and notice that it seems to happen when underground. It's happened to me in both Tunnels on Perimeter and underground in AI Uplink in Dire Marsh. I don't seem to notice any frame drops after rejoining and haven't had an issue with the game after reconnecting to the game.

  • Same problem here.... Also when this happens can you make it bypass the intro screens and get straight into the game!?

  • Even after the most recent patch this is still happening to me. I'm not running AMD but NVIDIA

  • Multiple times too... WTF

  • This is not a faulty hardware issue. The same was occurring when Crytek did their Hunt 1896 update. You'd pop open the map, theirs would actually load on your screen (no map shows on my recording software in Marathon), but then crash the game immediately. That kind of crash was not happening before the 1896 update, but was solved in about a month's time. I haven't looked to see if there are shared UI dependencies across the games, but they sound related. Pull up a couple rasters and just get booted from the game. At least Marathon's reconnect is buttery smooth and syncs up nicely. Attached a recording of my WHOLE CREW getting hit with the issue in a Perimeter match spawning inside Data Wall back to back. I missed some conversation in the replays, but the Destroyer at the end was able to open and close the map at start before it finally hit. Also, I do not know the Triage's cpu, but the destroyer was Intel, I have AMD. I do not believe I've ever had it happen to me more than once in a match.

Description of Issue - When opening the map ingame (pressing M), the game can freeze and crash to desktop.
Rough Date and Time of issue - Been possible since launch, not sure if I encountered it during the server slam. It happens seemingly at random
Repro steps - Just try pressing M whenever a match is loaded in-game. Can happen at round start or in the middle of the match. In the supplied video, the issue happened to my whole team. 3/11 9:42PM EST on Perimeter

  • This is happening to me too and it is not a hardware issue similar to others reporting this

  • Happened to me and two of my friends too

  • This is happening to me too. This needs to be added to known issues.

  • I've had these crashes very rarely. They are always silent too. But it is frequent enough to be an issue.
