Can I get banned for using Proton VPN to connect to NA servers?

The reason I ask is that my region seems to have low players and it takes a while to find matches but if I connect to NA I find matches instantly with slightly higher ping. Shame there isn't a way to change regions in-game or the game could match me with other regions if matchmaking takes too long.
