PS5 Slim overheating in Main Menu

As the post says, when the game is idle on the Main Menu Screen (not any of the sub menus) the fan begins to ramp up at quite an alarming rate. 

at the beginning of my play session it gets loud and after about one hour I'll get the "overheating screen".

What's odd is that when I am in any of the sub menus or "out in the world" the fan runs normally.

My system is clean and well vented.

The fact that it ramps up ONLY on the Main Menu screen makes me suspect that it overclocks the fan.

I have a PS5 Slim set to VRR-120hz, my LG OLED is capable of VRR-120hz; the system is well maintained (clean) and in a well vented location. 

Edit: Would also like to mention that I had about 5-6 hrs of total playtime yesterday, on and off, with breaks in between.
