Cursor Lag

oxShadowFlameXo
Steam
On my initial load of the game at the EULA and subsequent option selections, the cursor was very "laggy" updating position every 2-3 seconds. If I tab out while in the lobby the cursor will have the same issue. I see other posts and possibly an AMD specific issue.

    Hi there.

    Thank you for reaching out.

Sorry to hear that you're experiencing issues with your mouse cursor while playing the game. We are aware of some third-party utilities that can introduce this problem. Try closing any screen sharing, screen capture, or screen measurement utilities.

You can also try the following workaround to see if that helps resolve the issue:

    • If you are streaming while playing, could you try streaming the whole screen and not the Marathon game window specifically.
    • If you are not streaming the game while playing, or if the above doesn't work, try disabling the Steam Overlay by clicking Settings → In Game and then toggling off "Enable the Steam Overlay while in-game".
  • No screen capture or recording, and all overlays are disabled, issue still persists.

  • I have the same issue. No recording software or third party overlays running. It appears to happen any time I initially launch the game or tab out of the game to another screen; if I do it fast enough it doesn't start stuttering but if I do something for a couple of minutes like typing this post reply it will inevitably be unplayably laggy in the interfaces/menus the cursor will be nearly unresponsive for a bit. If I leave the game running for a few minutes after tabbing back in the lag will eventually go away as if the frames are trying to catch up from the 30FPS that it goes down to when you tab out to the higher FPS when I'm actively in-game. It's really weird and very frustrating. Interestingly enough, if I manage to launch the run the gameplay is fluid but the menus are not so I can't loot anything and have to wait until it catches up.

  • I did some more tests to help you fix/diagnose this issue.

    1. When the lag starts and I move the cursor it doesn't stick to the game it can leave the game window to the other monitors despite being tabbed back into the game.
    2. Timing the lag with a stopwatch from when it starts to when it ends it takes exactly 2:02 minutes each time for it to become exclusively focused on the game again and start moving at expected cursor speed.
    3. During said lag time even if I hover it exclusively over the game screen the cursor lags, sometimes becomes entirely unresponsive and about 2-3 times it disappears off the game screen before it finally starts moving normally. This may be the same fadeout effect that happens if you don't move your cursor though.

    Hope this helps.
