Bungie Answered
Unable to launch on (Arch) Linux
Hi Team,
I was incredibly excited to play this game until I tried launching and found out there is no support with ProtonDB. Please let me know if there is something I can do on my end to get this game working. BattleEye works with ARC raiders and runs beautifully on my machine. Windows has done me dirty too often and for too long for me to switch back.
Best,

Hi there,
Thanks for reaching out.
Per our System Requirements page, please note that Windows 10 or 11 is required to run Marathon on PC. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
I would love to play Marathon on my SteamOS device and the Steam Machine when it comes out. I currently can't get the game to launch since it doesn't recognize my NVIDIA GPU.
Also here to say I've switched my entire life to Linux / SteamOS and in my 700 game steam library there are like 3 games that don't work.
Destiny 2, Marathon, and Apex Legends.
BattleEye and EasyAnti Cheat support linux guys, cmon. It works fine with Arc Raiders, HellDivers. Just enable it.
Ditto here, freshly ditched Windows, only playing the server slam on my old install because it won't launch on my CachyOS (Arch-based) install yet, I want to see this change please.
Bought and played every Bungie Halo game and Destiny 2 Expansion. I'd like to buy and play Marathon, but cannot until Bungie enables Proton/Linux support. Microsoft is unsafe and unreliable and is no longer welcome on my hardware.
Hello,
I highly urge you to ask the team to enable Proton support as a significant amount of the player-base on PC has switched to Linux. This will cost you dearly in community support and financially. It is frankly unacceptable to not support Linux these days and the steam reviews will reflect this.
Hello, here to put forward my support as well.
Played the initial open alpha and a closed test on windows, and have since switched to Linux fully and would love to return to Marathon (put a pretty hefty amount of hours into previous playtests)
Linux support would be a huge boon to the community and put the game on par with Arc Raiders, which seems to be the #1 competitor as of now.
Hello, would love to have Marathon be playable via Proton. Even just not being actively against Linux users would do wonders, the only thing holding me back on not having Windows installed on a secondary drive is Destiny/Marathon being not playable on Linux.
