Input Conflict: Thief Trait (Hold) triggers Tactical (Press) since v1.0.5.3

Issue: There is an input conflict when mapping the Trait Skill (Hold) and Tactical (Press) to the same button on the Thief character. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Play as Thief on PS5 Pro. 2. In the controller settings, map the Trait Skill to a "Hold" input and the Tactical to a "Press" input on the same button. 3. Attempt to use the Trait Skill by holding the button. Observed Result: The Tactical ability activates immediately upon pressing the button, preventing the Trait Skill from being used. Expected Result: The game should distinguish between a short press (Tactical) and a long press (Trait), as it did in previous versions. Additional Context: * **Platform:** PS5 Pro * **Version:** This issue started occurring after version 1.0.5.3. It worked perfectly fine before that update.

    Hi there,

Thank you for reaching out and for reporting this.

Could you provide a few more details to add to your report?

    • A screenshot of your controller layout, showing:

      • Which button/trigger is set to Trait Skill = Hold

      • Which is set to Tactical = Press

      • (Especially if both are on the same trigger or button)

    • A short video clip where you:

      • Show the bindings screen first

      • Then, in a safe area, clearly do a few quick taps and a few long holds on that trigger

      • So we can see that only the Tactical (press) fires, even when you’re clearly holding for a Trait

    • A quick confirmation of:

      • Controller type (official DualSense or third‑party)

      • Whether you have any system‑level remapping or accessibility settings active on the triggers

    • Finally, does this short vs long press issue:

      • Happen only on Thief, or also if you try the same press/hold setup on another Runner?

      • Still happen if you bind them the same way but on face buttons instead of triggers?

Please use your platform's capture button to take the video. You can upload the footage to a public video hosting site, like YouTube, then post the link here and we’ll be glad to take a look.

  • The controller is a DualSense, not an EDGE.

I haven't tested it with other shells. It worked with the Thief.

I've also attached a video showing me actually holding down the button. Does that make sense?

  • Hi there,

Thank you for the video and screenshot.

This is a known input issue and are investigating to resolve this as soon as possible.

When you bind Trait to a Hold and Tactical to a Press on the same button, the game currently prioritizes the press action and fires Tactical immediately, which makes it very hard or impossible to trigger Trait on that button.

To avoid the conflict until it has been resolved:

    • Give Trait its own button that isn’t shared with Tactical or other combat actions, or
    • Move Tactical to a completely different button and leave Trait where you like.

Even if one is set to “Press” and the other to “Hold,” putting them on the same physical button is what’s causing the problem in the current version.
