Can't sign in

I have tried everything, nothing works. Cannot sign in to the game through steam in Finland. It's just permanently stuck signing in.

    Hi there,

    Thanks for reaching out.

Could you try the following troubleshooting steps to see if it helps with signing into Marathon:

    • Fully exit Marathon and Steam and Reboot your PC.
    • Power-cycle modem/router (unplug 30–60s, plug back in).
    • When internet is back, launch Steam → Marathon once and wait a few minutes at “Signing in…”.
    • In Windows Security → Firewall & network protection → Allow an app, make sure Marathon and your launcher (Steam) are allowed for Private and Public networks.
    • Temporarily disable any third-party antivirus/VPN and test once.
    • If possible, briefly test via a mobile hotspot or different network.
    • If it signs in there but not on the normal connection, note that in your reply.
    • In Steam, run Verify integrity of game files for Marathon.
    • In Steam, also try Steam → Settings → Downloads → Clear Download Cache, then log back in and relaunch Marathon.

If that doesn't help, please try the following afterwards:

    • Fully close Marathon and Steam.
    • If you use a VPN, please close it.
    • Power-cycle your modem and router (unplug for 30–60 seconds, then plug back in).
    • After the internet is back, reboot your PC.
    • Launch Steam → Marathon (with no VPN if you use one) and wait a couple of minutes at “Signing in…”.
    • Flush DNS and reset network stack

      • In Windows, open Command Prompt as Administrator and run, one by one:
        • ipconfig /flushdns
        • netsh int ip reset
        • netsh winsock reset
      • Reboot the PC, then try Marathon again.
    • Change DNS away from ISP defaults

      • Windows Settings → Network & Internet → Advanced network settings → More network adapter options.
      • Right-click your active connection → Properties → Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) → Properties.
      • Set DNS to Manual and use, for example:
        • Preferred: 8.8.8.8
        • Alternate: 1.1.1.1
      • OK → reboot → try Marathon again.
    • Temporarily disable extra filters

      • Turn off any third-party firewall, antivirus, or router-level security features.
      • Make sure no router-side VPN / DNS filter is still active even when your PC VPN (if you use one) app is off.
  • Hello hi, I assume that you have also tried using a Mobile Hotspot on your phone, and USB Tethering. I'm having the same issue, and this is the only way I am able to play. I did buy a Wi-Fi adapter, and it should arrive in couple of days. As I have been Ethernet this entire time. I also have a friend who fixed this issue just by getting a new router.

  • I have tried all of these methods. Doesn't work on my ethernet connection. mobile hotspot however works fine.

  • Hello again, I managed to fix it somehow on my Ethernet as well. All I did was check that I have a Open NAT offering from my ISP. And at least on Elisa, they have a free option for that. And all I had to do was change my APN in my modem settings to the one Elisa's website had instructed.

Hope this helps you out too.

  • Hello, as it happens, I am also on Elisa. Changing my APN settings helped. Thank you so much Tevu.
