Game crashes before boot!

When launching the game, I get a black screen before crashing back to the desktop. Occasionally, the desktop remains black after the crash, only revealing the background when I hover over icons or use the selection box (dragging with LMB). This issue is specific to Marathon, and I usually have to launch the game five times to get it to work.

I couldn't catch the footage with the black desktop seems it doesn't happens everytime!
