Microstuttering when you have X amount of friends on Steam

Yeah I'm gonna need this fixed ASAP.

Destiny 2 had a problem where if you had over 300 friends, the game would crash. Fixed in a week

Played Marathon server slam and playing it now, there's microstuttering both at the menu and in a match.

The fix?

To block my entire friendslist of over 900+.

No more stutter!

Gonna need Bungie to get on that please.

I was stuttering, I closed the game, blocked all of my friends, opened it, ran a match no stutters at all. Perfectly fine 70-80fps.

    Platform: Steam

Issue: My game has bad microstutters both in the lobby and in a match, your game is letting a users friendslist impact performance

Date: During the playtest and todays launch

Steps: I simply play game, microstutters, I close game, block every single friend on Steam (I have over 900+), I launch game, play matches like normal with no stuttering at all. I should not have to block my friends to play this.

Will provide gameplay later I guess. I'm busy enjoying the game to close it and unblock my friends. I have Ryzen 5 3600 32gb RAM and a RTX 3060. My specs are okay. It is 100% the friendslist causing it, Destiny 2 had an issue on launch and some other games impact performance because of it too (Dragon's Dogma).

  • Alright, uploaded the videos.

You can see the frames on the top right and you can see obvious stuttering I believe in 2 videos, after that there's a video of me running with me going "OFFLINE" on my friendslist and 2 more videos where I blocked all of them. Either way, it's obvious having a large friendslist ruins performance on the game.

    • Bungie Account Name - SGT Sagara#3446
    • Platform - Steam
    • Description of Issue - Both in the menu and during a ground infiltration, the game suffers from micro-stuttering that occurs every 3-5 seconds. The game updates the friends list (synced by Steam) and apparently fails to sync all the users on my friends list (I have a friends list of 698 users). If I set the friends network in Steam to OFFLINE, the game immediately and permanently stops stuttering. Reactivating the Steam friends network immediately causes regular and persistent stuttering.
    • Rough Date and Time of issue - The issue was present throughout Server Slam and reappeared at launch on March 5th.
    • Repro steps - To trigger the problem: launch the game with a Steam account with more than 300 users in the friends list.
