performance issues still not resolved from server slam: stuck at around sub 60 fps with gpu util up from 50% now at 90% with cpu util still at 40-50%

Hardware:

  • Laptop: Lenovo Yoga Pro 9i (2024)
  • CPU: Intel Core Ultra 9 185H
  • GPU: RTX 4060 Mobile
  • RAM: 32GB LPDDR5X (7200 MHz)

Display Resolutions Tested:

  • 1920×1080
  • 3200×2000

Summary of the Issue:
I am experiencing severe performance issues that have persisted since the October playtest and were also present during the Server Slam. The game appears to be CPU-limited or improperly utilizing CPU cores, resulting in an FPS cap around 57 FPS, regardless of resolution or graphics settings.

  • FPS capped at ~57 in gameplay regardless of:
    • Resolution (1080p vs 3200×2000)
    • Graphics settings (Low → High)
  • During gunfights, FPS drops to ~20 FPS, making the game nearly unplayable.
  • CPU utilization remains around 40–50%.
  • GPU utilization increased from ~50% during Server Slam to ~90% in the current build, but FPS remains unchanged.
  • GPU utilization spikes mainly in the menu, not in gameplay.
  • Thermals and fan speeds are now significantly higher compared to the Server Slam build, despite identical performance.
  • Process Lasso shows:
    • Performance cores largely unused
    • Efficiency cores heavily loaded, even in the launch menu
    • thread scheduling needs a lookover or something?

I already tried the following:

  • NVIDIA drivers fully updated
  • Also tested with older drivers
  • NVIDIA Control Panel Threaded Optimization enabled
  • System set to performance mode
  • Laptop plugged in and running maximum performance profiles

Performance Comparison in Other Games (same hardware):

  • The Finals: ~150–180 FPS (Medium/High @ 1080p)
  • Rainbow Six Siege: ~180–210 FPS (Low @ 1080p)
  • Overwatch: 200+ FPS (Max settings @ 1080p)
  • Destiny 2: ~90 FPS but shows a similar CPU/GPU utilization ceiling.

Additional Notes:

  • During the Server Slam build, GPU utilization was capped around 50%, but performance was identical to the current build.
  • In the current version, GPU utilization increases (up to ~90%) but FPS does not improve.
  • Fans and thermals are now significantly higher for the same performance level.
  • Based on monitoring tools, the issue appears related to thread scheduling or limited multithreading, with the game failing to properly utilize the CPU’s performance cores.
