Banned for use of RTSS, MSI AFTERBURNER, and NVIDIA SMOOTH MOTION
Good Afternoon,
I am reaching out regarding a permanent ban that was recently applied to my account, along with multiple other players who appear to have experienced the same issue.
Several of us were playing normally when we were suddenly disconnected from the servers. After reconnecting, we were able to move around for about 30 seconds before the screen went black and displayed a message stating that we had been banned. Shortly after, Steam sent a notification confirming that an in-game ban had been applied.
This situation appears to be affecting many players. There is currently a discussion thread with approximately 50–100 people reporting the exact same sequence of events in Marathon Discord labeled "Still False Banned On Release Day"
A major concern is that some of the applications being mentioned—such as third-party tools or features like NVIDIA Smooth Motion—were not clearly communicated as prohibited prior to launch. If these applications trigger BattlEye, it would have been helpful for players to know in advance so we could disable or uninstall them to avoid triggering the anti-cheat system.
At the moment, support responses are taking quite a long time, and there has been a post suggesting that bans will not be reversed. Given the number of players reporting identical circumstances, it seems possible that this could be a false-positive issue.
Could you please review these cases and provide an update on whether this situation is being investigated? Any clarification or progress on this matter would be greatly appreciated by the affected players.
Thank you for your time and assistance.
Best regards,
Cory

Hi there,
Thanks for reaching out.
If your account has incurred a ban, then the way to contact our Security team about it is through the Appeal Ban or Restriction Contact Form.
If you have already submitted a ticket, you have done all you can, and will need to wait for a response. Ban appeals are not conducted on the forums.
