PC perfomance guide check-up

I've been playing since release day and recently I've dove into checking if I could reach higher framerates in game for a smoother gameplay, I've found myself suprised to see that Marathon is one of a kind game regarding performance and hardware usage, it doesn't seem to be super demanding unless on the CPU side, I have an i7 12700k paired with a RTX 3080 Ti, 32Gb of RAM, and a 1440p 144hz monitor.

I've noticfed as you mentionned in your performance guide that some maps are obviously more complex than other (outpost/cryo) and that's normal but the issue is that no matter how low I change my video setting to I won't have any framerate increase, hence why as you also mentionned it must be tied to thr CPU performances, but even if, at max clock speed and usage, the game doesn't run ANY more smoothly, the FPS gain is so minimal,  about 5 FPS. The CPU I own is not the best of the best ikr but still as some decent number of cores and threads. Although I believe I've had a similar issue with other DirectX 12 titles, some framerate drops when the game requires a lot of tasks to be run alongside.

So I now know I cannot expect Marathon as of today to reach higher framerates due to the CPU bound limitations and not because of the GPU. Which results in me hoping for you; as you guys mentionned some optimization in the future, even minor, one step at a time idm. So for now I'll use the AMD FSR technology on a Nvidia card (the faded/leaking elements are disgusting somtimes but I know that's normal in this case) if I want to go beyond 100 FPS constantly, at least...

Here is a video of me going through your PC performance guide. Hmu if you need more informations. Might as well invest in a newer more performing CPU but still... compared to some other games I've rarely had such a limitation. (sound in the vid is delayed, I may have closed OBS too quick after the redux of the recording)

Thank you for reaching out to us again.

We appreciate you taking the time to share your experience and system specs with us. As you may be aware, the best place to share feedback is the Marathon Discord. We recommend posting to one of the two feedback channels we linked you to on your previous post. In that way, you'll ensure your feedback gets the best visibility!

  • Oh ok, this is only BUGs related here I assume then
