PS5 Overheating Issue

Whilst in the menus before a run, specifically when the runner is on screen or accessing the faction menu, the fans kick on at top speed before the console shuts down. This issue does not occur when in a run. I have fully cleaned the console, deleted and redownloaded the game, cleared cache and rebuilt database. When rebooting the game I am not given an error code. This issue has been persistent since the start of season two, it does not affect any other game. The issue is not intermittent and can be triggered at any point just by being in the main menu screen.

    Hello there,
    Thanks for the detailed report.

What you’re describing lines up with an already tracked PS5 issue rather than a generic console-maintenance problem. There is a bug for cases where Marathon on PS5 can cause the fans to ramp up in menus or the lobby and then the console can overheat and shut down. That report is specifically menu/lobby related, which matches your note that it happens when the runner is on screen or in the faction menu and not while actually in a run.

The fact that you already cleaned the console, reinstalled the game, cleared cache, rebuilt the database, and only see this in Marathon since Season 2 makes this sound much more like a game-side issue than normal PS5 overheating. Other player reports on the same issue were serious enough that support escalated them for bug write-up as well.

Also, not getting a normal in-game error code after reboot is consistent with the kind of hard shutdown players have been describing in similar PS5 crash threads.
