Purchased Deluxe Edition and Didn't get the game?

Hey Marathon Team, I recently played the Marathon free week and enjoyed the game quite a bit, I was looking on the PS store today now that the trial is over and it showed that the Deluxe edition of the game was only $20 and included the base game and 6 runner shells, however when I go to my home screen, it's saying that I still don't own the base game? I'm not sure how I should proceed now, the listing explicitly said the Marathon game and the shells were included along with a bunch of extras but it seems I only have the extras and not the game itself? Please help, I don't see the reduced price for the base game anymore, which I was under the assumption would be the going price for the game going forward, so now it seems I have no choice but to buy the $40 dollar base edition? That seems a bit of an unfair position for me considering the deluxe edition said it was included in the first place when I purchased it, and now I can't use that purchase.

  • This has been an ongoing issue since the free trial period started on June 2nd. They released a statement on June 5th, and also updated the PS store listing to state that the Deluxe edition upgrade would not include the base game. Although, it still showed that the base game was included in another section of the listing.

On June 5th, the Marathon dev team announced they were aware of this issue, and would be giving the base game to anyone who purchased the deluxe edition prior to when they added the updated description. That was a week ago, and there hasn't been any further updates, and the game license hasn't been issued yet.

Since you purchased the deluxe edition after they added the disclaimer to the description, I don't believe you will receive the base game at no additional cost. I'm not sure why they didn't completely update the listing so there wouldn't be any confusion, because many people don't read the actual game description before purchasing. So you basically bought the deluxe add on content, but not the actual game itself. And it was only $20 because the PS store thought you already owned the base game due to the free trial.

I purchased the deluxe edition on June 3rd, but I'm still waiting to receive the game, or at the least an update with an estimated time of delivery.

  • Hey man, thanks for the reply here, I appreciate the additional visibility

The listing I clicked for my Deluxe Edition purchase explicitly stated in the contents that the base game and six runner shells were included in the purchase, I see what you're saying about them updating the listing now, but the verbiage is still confusing and not corrected and led me to make the purchase thinking it was a deal. I'd still like to see some sort of response from Bungie itself and maybe they can help get me the base edition at the very least at a reduced price, I don't think it's fair to think people would want the deluxe edition content to just be usable for a trial session, never heard of that

  • Yeah I totally get it! The listed still clearly states that it includes the base game, so idk how they are able to getaway with that. I really think Sony is at fault too though, it's their store, and they should honor their pricing error.

They added a disclaimer in the description, but many people, myself included don't always read that prior to purchasing. They definitely should have updated the entire listing, or ideally, just made it so the discounted rate wasn't available to people with the trial. It's caused a lot of confusion for sure.

I wish you the best of luck! But even the people who purchased prior to them adding the disclaimer are still waiting to receive the game, or get an update from them. There hasn't been a single update since their June 5th announcement, and the free trial ended 2 days ago. I'm hoping they get it sorted out soon.

  • I wish you the best of luck as well, you make a good point that Sony has a part to play in fault here too it being their store, I may try to teach out them as well. Ultimately what's a shame is we should be playing the game right now, I'm surprised to hear you haven't received your copy of the game yet since this happened to you before they "fixed" it. I wonder what the deal is there
