Perimeter Duo queue
My wife and I were playing together on Perimeter and we came across a vandal and a rook teamed together. I don't know how that happened, but it threw me off. And it wasn't like a skin malfunction or something because the rook had compromised backpack and shield.

We have received reports of some matchmaking issues in Duos. At this time, we're looking into them. Thanks for letting us know about your experience!
Confirmed on my end with my brother. Rooks can run duo queues from the start of a match. Both as rook, or just one rook. It does not drop you in mid-match, always at the start.
