Marathon Tapir Error and CIS Region Access Concerns

Dear Bungie Team,

I am writing as a player from the CIS region, specifically from Kazakhstan, regarding the ongoing TAPIR error that prevents many players from accessing Marathon.

From the player side, the situation looks extremely concerning. Marathon is already fighting for long-term player retention, and every day matters for a live-service game. At the same time, a large group of players appears to be blocked from even entering the game because of the TAPIR error or a region-related access restriction. Whatever the internal reason is technical, authentication-related, network-related, or policy-related, the result is the same: real players who want to play Marathon cannot access the product.

This is especially frustrating because the CIS region includes many countries, not only Russia. I understand that some regional decisions may be driven by legal, business, or political factors. However, applying broad restrictions to the entire CIS region, including countries such as Kazakhstan, Ukraine and Belarus seems unnecessarily damaging both to players and to Marathon’s own player base.

Marathon needs more active players, not fewer. The CIS region has a strong hardcore gaming audience, including many players who follow Bungie’s games closely and are willing to invest time, attention, and money into a competitive multiplayer title. Excluding or ignoring this audience only makes the game’s recovery harder.

With Season 2 approaching, this would be a very good moment to fix the TAPIR issue and restore access for players in the CIS region, especially in countries where there is no clear legal reason to block access. A public acknowledgement of the issue and a clear plan to resolve it would also help rebuild trust with affected players.

I am not asking for a workaround or special treatment. I am asking Bungie to stop excluding a passionate part of the player base and to treat CIS players as legitimate customers and community members.

Thank you for your time.
