Design problems and lost player base
As an avid marathon player and Youtube channel owner. I write this from my heart as i truly love the games that bungie has created over the years, thank you for such thought and originality in your world building and lore creation. The lore of Marathon is fantastic please continue to develop that as much as possible.
The massive loss of player base to this game as i have talked with hundreds of my channel subs and other content creators is due to the game design people do not want to play a Mine craft styled looter shooter. The blockiness of the game needs to be reworked and refined into a cleaner visual structure like that of the intro. when you are flying over the Marathon ship and viewing it from space. I know this would require significant investment and time, but it would in fact put your game back on track and appese much of the fans that you have lost. As someone who has held Director level titles at billion dollar organizations and managed over 700 Million in books of business this would significantly help to account and rebuild the player base and interest therein aligning you with greater earnings for Bungie and sony. You took an over 750 Million dollar loss, there must be some accountability for the divisive graphics design and look of this game.
The future update plans for focus on content, not art direction is a mistep. As Bungie has confirmed that Marathon updates will continue "beyond 2026 and into 2027," with plans focused on more alien elements, new enemies from Tau Ceti and beyond, and expanded PvE opportunities — but not graphic overhauls you will still alienate your player base with this methodology. You need to come to terms with the fact that the graphics need to be redesigned for this to be successful.
I hope this does not fall on def ears. I wish you truly all the best and have the best intentions in surfacing this notion as all of the players i have spoken to who left the game have said it was due to "how the game looked and was designed".
