Tap to talk not as useful as it needs to be

Push to talk (tap) not picking up my voice unless I'm already speaking as I'm pressing the button. The "when silence is detected" timeout is seemingly a lot less than a full second and when I'm trying to focus on what I'm about to say that half a second is enough for it to turn off immediately and pressing it again doesn't seem to turn it back on if it was a second or two after the first press. It does not function if you are not talking before you press the button and that kind of defeats the purpose. Increase the amount of time it needs to be silent before it switches off the mic. With further testing, if you take that half second too long to speak but get a word in just in time, it actually cuts you off mid word! Honestly I would prefer it just be a toggle button instead of a silence detecting speak immediately or forever hold your peace button.
I recommend just sitting in a lobby and talking at different timings of pressing the button and I'm sure you will be able to recreate what I've described.
I have not changed the keybinding, it is the default T for me. I am using HyperX cloud alpha wireless headset and microphone. Noise suppression is off. Settings are set to that hardware and it does pick me up when I am able to time my speech correctly. I don't think positional crew chat would make a difference but that is turned on.
