Recurring MARMOT Error
Want to put this out there for Bungie because this issue has existed since server slam and also for what I do to be able to continue playing in case others get stuck.
Once a day or so, I launch the game (or sometimes while loading into a map) and I get the Marmot error code. When this first began i went through all the troubleshooting tips around verifying files, etc to no avail. There were never any issues found with game files. I also tried uninstalling/reinstalling. This did not fix the issue. Once i get this error code, the only way to get back into the game is to Restart steam, or in some cases restart the PC. For me, at least, one of these 2 "solutions" will fix it 100% of the time - until the next day when it occurs again. It only seems to happen about once a day so it's not often enough to keep me from enjoying the game, but it is often enough to be annoying.
I fail to see how this error code is pointing to a corrupted file issue. I've made no changes to any config files manually. I have not changed any permissions to any folders or files either. I just wanted to post this in hopes that it helps others or helps Bungie find a permanent solution to this problem. Devs, feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions or need further evidence. I can screen capture this happening next time if necessary.
My Solution:
1. Restart Steam and Relaunch Marathon. If this does not work, see #2
2. Restart PC
Steam Platform
PC Specs:
Ryzen 7 7800x3d - No OC
RTX 5070
32 GB DDR5 @ 6000MHz XMP Enabled
Windows 11 10.0.26200
Marathon Installed on C Drive 1 TB NVME (have also tried secondary NVME as well with same results)

Hello there,
Thank you for your report.
A few things to try beyond the usual verify/reinstall:
Check for a stray version.dll in Steam
There was a real case where a non-Steam version.dll under the Steam folder caused persistent MARMOT until it was removed.
Fully close Marathon and Steam.
Go to: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\
If you see version.dll there, rename it (e.g., version.dll.bak) or move it out of that folder.
Restart Steam and launch Marathon.
Kill overlays / injectors while you test
Temporarily disable and fully exit things like:
Discord overlay, GeForce Experience in-game overlay, AMD Adrenalin overlay
MSI Afterburner / Rivatuner, ReShade, FPS/OSD tools, “optimizer” or injector apps
Then restart Steam and run a couple of matches to see if the once per day MARMOT still happens.
Language / content check
There was a specific bug where using Traditional Chinese as the Steam language caused MARMOT due to missing English audio packages; this was fixed, but as a diagnostic: if you’re using Traditional Chinese, try setting Steam + Marathon to English or Simplified Chinese and see if the pattern changes.
Disk / system sanity pass (once)
Run a Steam file verify again after the above changes.
