Steam Discussion Forum needs moderation!

Since the game is offered on Steam, I consider Steam Discussions forum as one of the services, that's why I post in this section.

The Steam Discussion forums for Marathon are absolutely overrun with dozens of trolls obsessed with the "game dying" and some kind of culture war on, as they put it "woke dei slop". Their intentions irrelevant, the impact, however, is that an average gamer playing Marathon on Steam, when they pop Steam Overlay to interact with the forums, can hardly find any game-relevant posts, as the forum is flooded with posts about steamchart numbers going down, Concord / Highguard, and general bashing of the game and Bungie, mostly by people who don't even own Marathon nor ever played it. This is apparently a part of the social phenomenon described in the article here: https://www.windowscentral.com/gaming/jeff-kaplan-has-choice-words-for-players-who-just-live-to-hate-shut-the-f-up

Steam has their own moderation for the obvious stuff like straight-on abuse of the forums, but they're apparently unable to deal with the current situation.

Can some kind of community manager / moderator be assigned to these forums to alleviate the situation?

Perhaps the main General Discussion part of the forum can be locked to only allow people who own the game?

Currently the two dozen of dedicated trolls make the forum hard to use for actual gamers, as even if you block all of their accounts, all the game-relevant questions are pushed out from the first page by the off-topic spam within 15minutes of posting.

These forums are a good way to communicate between players, and they really do need moderation.

    Hi there,

    Thanks for reaching out.

We appreciate your feedback! That said, the best place to share it is on the official Marathon Discord rather than our Help Forums. To that point, we suggest posting your thoughts there, if you haven't already done so. You can find the specific feedback channels below:

  • Agree. I'm all for freedom of expression and dissent but it's to the point where there are so many of the same type of posts it's spam and toxic/hate. If a topic is similar to another earlier one, the newer ones should be culled and directed to earlier post unless they are making a new "point." Steam Discussion should be considered high priority community because it is the immediate facing discussion board at point of purchase.

  • Thank you, Bungie Support, yes, I've done so, but it doesn't look like anyone from Bungie side is looking at the posts there.

I guess I'll go make noise on the Discord then.
