Broccoli graphics crash on AMD
- Bungie Account Name - GoldenPot8o#4883
- Platform - Steam
- Description of Issue - Persistent graphics error crash on start up after release of Cryo Archive
- Rough Date and Time of issue - Just started happening today, with the release of Cryo Archive. I know there's a video that plays after you log in, my best guess is that's causing the crash.
- Repro steps - Just launching the game does it. I've been a diligent gamer and done all the things that first come to mind and nothing fixes it. I've tried: rebooting (x4), verifying files (x3), reinstalling (x2). I've checked my OS and my drivers, they're both up to date and haven't had an update in the last week. I've turned off the steam overlay, and cleared the steam download cache. After doing some tweaking, I don't even get to the frozen loading butterfly (see below image), it just flashes black and then crashes instantly.
- Hardware - I'm running off a AMD Radeon 7700s and an AMD Ryzen 9 7940HS, both of which have never had an issue since full release. Turning off HYPR-RX in the Adrenaline panel makes it so I don't even get to see it try to launch.

Hello there,
Thank you very much for reaching out to us. I'm sorry to hear that you are seeing this error code when trying to load into Cryo Archive. This error code appears when the game has trouble detecting your GPU. This generally occurs due to the driver crashing, which appears to be the case with the AMD reporting tool also being proc'd. We've taken note of this thread and will continue monitoring anything that may be causing this to occur.
Hi, just a quick clarification. It doesn't occur when I'm trying to load into Cryo, it's just that it has only started occurring now that Cryo is up. As of, 3AM PST today the game was running and launching just fine. I simply mentioned Cryo because that's the only thing I know of having changed between then and now.
Update: Got it working with some help! Just had to downgrade my drivers. Still so weird that this happened when it did, but the issue was propagated to other games (Helldivers 2 at the least), so I'm gonna assume its not related to Marathon.
I was also having broccoli crashes on the latest Nvidia drivers (3080TI ver. 595.79) after the release/opening of Cryo Archive. Both crashes happened in loadout/lobby screen. After the second crash I immediately rolled back drivers to the last stable ones I was running (ver. 581.57) and no issues since. Bungie Support
