    Hello there,
    Thank you for reaching out.

Yes – this is a Windows crash, not a specific Destiny/Marathon error, and it’s commonly tied to fullscreen optimizations / display mode / drivers rather than your account.

Assuming you’re on Windows PC, try this order (most to least likely to help):

Disable Fullscreen Optimizations for the game EXE

Go to your game install folder → right-click the main .exe (Destiny 2 or Marathon) → Properties → Compatibility
    Check “Disable fullscreen optimizations”
Click Change high DPI settings → check “Override high DPI scaling behavior” (Application) → OK → Apply.
    Launch the game again.
Use Windowed / Borderless instead of Exclusive Fullscreen

If you can reach settings: set Display Mode to Windowed Fullscreen or Borderless.
If it crashes before that, add any available “-windowed” style launch option from your launcher (Steam/Epic/Bnet) and retry.
Verify game files + update GPU drivers

In Steam/Epic/Bnet: use Verify / Scan and repair for the game.
Install the latest NVIDIA/AMD/Intel graphics drivers (clean install if possible).
    Kill overlays and capture tools

Temporarily disable: Discord overlay, Xbox Game Bar, GeForce Experience overlay, MSI Afterburner/Rivatuner, OBS hooks, etc.
    Then try launching again.
Run as Administrator & disable compatibility shims

Same EXE → Properties → Compatibility:
Check “Run this program as an administrator”.
Make sure no old compatibility mode (e.g., Windows 7/8) is enabled.

  • thx for reply, I tried these things before posting and nothing worked. :// I've been playing Destiny 2 for a long time and nothing like this has ever happened to me. I'm using Windows 10
