Constant crashing since patch

As title states. Was running game perfectly fine prior to today.  Does not occur while managing loadout/vault but ranges anywhere from immediate to 3-5 minutes into match without warning.  No error code; crashes directly to desktop.  Hardware is running fine and not overheating.  Attempted to adjust settings without any luck.

    Hey there,

    Thank you for your report.

We understand that you're experiencing crashing since the latest update to Marathon. We're sorry to hear of this. If you haven't yet tried, you may wish to reinstall Marathon, to see if that alleviates the crashing. You can read more about this in the following guide.

If the crashing persists beyond reinstallation, however, then please let us know the OS and GPU of your PC. We'll then review and see what else we can hopefully suggest.

  • Same issue here. Game ran fine prior to the patch, but have had several crashes to desktop without displaying any errors since. Crashes occurred during runs as described in the main post above, but have also had a crash while editing loadout in the menu. I have tried to reinstall the game (while also clearing Steam cache), but have still observed another crash afterwards.

  • Same issue:
Dont attempt to start me on troubleshooting steps.
Tried to disable real life virus protection, disable firewall, force the game in DX11 and DX12 modes. launched the game with admin rights and win7 compatibility. Forced battleeye reinstallation, installed/reinstalled newest C++ Redistributablem, restarted PC, verified integrity, reinstalled game and all my drivers are up to date.

Game worked fine until this CLEARLY BROKEN PATCH. I have a suggestion for you. Fix it or return the money as I will not be using your broken product.

  • Hello everyone, I fixed it.
Thank you InFamousKID for this log dump as I dont have it on my PC and it told me enough to resolve the issue.

Please update your BIOS and Intel ME via ME Update Tool assuming you are running Intel CPU. I dont use AMD so I cant help there.

The issue might also be with undervolting your CPU, I did not test it yet as I have put all my BIOS settings to default and just enabled XMP/EXPO

    Game works now.

  • Also thanks to Alex for pin-pointing the issue. It is with intel management engine. Please update your intel management engine to fix the issue.

  • This fix worked for me. Thanks everyone here!

  • Thanks, this worked for me too.

Just an observation in case this helps anyone else: I first wanted to avoid a full bios update and tried to just update the ME driver as well as some other drivers, but this did not resolve the issue for me. Only also updating the bios afterwards seems to have resolved the issue. My old bios version was from 01/2025, so if your bios version is at least as old as that, you might consider updating the bios in addition to the ME driver.

  • Same issue. Reinstall didn't help.

Game is unplayable, it crashes every 3 to 5 minutes in a run.

  • Hello again everyone,

The fix I came up with yesterday was:
Updating your BIOS (dont do any tuning apart xmp/expo) and Intel Management Engine.
    After that I suggest also:
Go to the location where your game is installed, for me its C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Marathon\battleye
Right click on Uninstall_BattlEye -> Run as Administrator -> uninstall it
    Then
Right click on Install_BattlEye -> Run as Administrator -> install it

You can also just delete the insides of this folder and game/steam will redownload it back.

If that doesnt work then I am out of ideas and this probably needs official fix.

  • Constant crashes for me too since yesterday.  Sometimes I can play a few minutes, and others I can only walk a few steps before it crashes.

    Intel Core Ultra 9 285K

    Intel Arc B580

    Windows 11

FWIW, I do not get these crashes on my Intel 14900 machine, only this Core Ultra one.

  • Updating BIOS and Intel ME worked for me as well

  • So is this something we can expect a fix for?  Or are we all just expected to update our bios?
