My own trap chest killed me without anyone touching it

I placed a trap chest near some dead UESC I had taken out, only for it to blow up behind me as I was looting a separate container from some other UESC I took out after placing the trap. Is this a bug or do trap chests blow up even from just looting nearby containers?
