server DOWN?

server down just bought the gmae and cant connect so servers says its offline

    Thank you for reaching out

    The W:8:80090305 message and “servers offline” text usually mean the game client can’t establish a secure connection to the Marathon services, either because:
    The servers are temporarily down/under maintenance, or
    Something on your side (firewall, AV, network, time settings) is blocking or breaking that secure handshake.

    A couple quick checks:
    Check service status / maintenance
    Make sure there isn’t any ongoing maintenance or outage announced on the official channels (Marathon/Destiny Twitter/X, Bungie Help site, etc.). If there is, you’ll just need to wait for services to come back up.

    Basic local checks
    Fully restart your PC/console and your modem/router (unplug router for ~30 seconds, then plug back in).
    If you’re on Wi‑Fi, try a wired Ethernet connection for a test.
    Temporarily disable any VPN, and make sure your system date/time are set correctly (auto sync on).

    Firewall / security software
    Re‑enable your firewall, but:
    Add exceptions for the Marathon executable and your launcher (Steam/Epic).
    If you use third‑party antivirus or security suites, try temporarily disabling them and launching again to see if they’re blocking the connection.
