Fullscreen at Lower-than-native Resolution Allows Cursor Out of Game Window

  • Bungie Account Name - Computious#8643
  • Platform - Steam
  • Description of Issue - In fullscreen, when playing at a lower resolution than the monitor's native resolution (I'm playing at 1080p on a 4k monitor), My mouse is able to leave the bottom (↓) & right (→) boundaries of the game window, even though I do not have additional displays in those directions. I can tell from the way Windows settings is showing my monitor configuration that Fullscreen at lower resolutions is not actually temporarily changing my monitor resolution (as most games do), but is likely using some new fullscreen magic to zoom in on the top-left quadrant of the monitor which would be 1080p in the case of 4k, which means when my mouse leaves the window from the bottom or right sides, it is exploring the remaining 3 1080p sections of the display.

I tested this both w/my second monitor on & off. My second monitor is on the left (←) side of the monitor I am running Marathon on. When the second monitor is on, the cursor moves to the left screen & interacts with it properly (good behavior!). When the second monitor is off, the left side of the game window is a proper boundary, which makes me more confident in my hypothesis in the first paragraph.
  • Rough Date and Time of issue - 20260310 & persists through every launch of the game.
  • Repro steps - Set game to fullscreen 1080p on a 4k monitor and move the mouse outside of the bottom and right boundaries of the game window.
