Day 4, still getting "weasel" error...

Playing on Steam, NA-West. My Bungie name is thatguyytyy#9632.

Every time I load up the game, I can sit at the main menu for about 30-60 seconds until I get disconnected with the weasel error code.

I have tried everything already suggested and more; flushing DNS, enabling UPnP, several more command prompt commands, restarted my router, reinstalled the game, still no luck.

I'm at the point where I have 49 minutes played just encountering the same loop of hoping it will be fixed the next day and it's not. I'm about to refund the game because I can't even play, along with many other players.

    Hi there,

WEASEL is a connection error that means the game lost its link to the Marathon servers. It can be caused either by your local network (Wi‑Fi drops, strict NAT, VPN, etc.) or by temporary server issues.

    A few things to try:
    Power‑cycle your network
    Fully shut down your PC/console.
Unplug your modem/router for 30 seconds, then plug back in.
Once your internet is back, start your PC/console and launch Marathon again.
Use a wired & “clean” connection if possible
If you’re on Wi‑Fi, try Ethernet.
Turn off VPNs, proxies, or custom DNS.
Close bandwidth‑heavy apps (streams, large downloads, other games).

    Check platform/network status
Run your platform’s network test (Steam / Xbox / PS / Windows).
If you keep getting WEASEL immediately on sign‑in, check for any service outages or maintenance notices on the Marathon help site / social channels.

  • Same here, your last statement in your post is literally me. I have just about 40 minutes on the game from 3-minute sessions at a time of me trying to launch it, get past the loading, start the tutorial, then get kicked out. I bought the game as a key to save a couple bucks so I cannot refund it whatsoever, which makes the whole situation just that much better. This is day 5 actually of the issue being persistent. I have still yet to be able to play a full game without getting kicked for error code weasel. I'm sick and tired of seeing the automatic Bungie responses with their shitty PR-trained comments of "did you check our help section?" This issue is so annoying considering they were so quick to fix it during the server slam, but now that everyone has bought the game and Bungie's wallets are filled, they don't give a rats ass about fixing things in a timely manner. All they have to say about it is that they're acknowledging the issue. That's it. No ETA on a fix, no other communication about what's causing, just silence, for 5 days now.

  • Lol 5 minutes after my comment was the PR Bungie bot.. Funny how they put it back on you to try all these things yet it's literally their service that's causing these issues.

  • I have the same issue. tried everything short of reinstalling Windows. Someone suggested it's a Windows 10 thing and I'm not gonne downgrade to Windows 11 just for this game.

Unbelievable that the Bungie Support response here is utterly useless. Giving the most basic advice, even though OP had already stated they had tried all that already.
