Resolution switching

my games auto start on my laptop screen but i then switch to a different monitor and because of the change in resolution ( 1600 > 1440), i cant access the bottom of the screen.  the cursor wont go down there.  have to hit esc until i get to a screen where you are able to select the settings.  then change the resolution manually.  would be nice if the resolutin was detected after you hit start game.  or was continuosly auto.
