Bungie Answered
Will marathon be coming to Linux?
I'd like to play marathon, as I am a fan of the previous series of games that share this name. Myself and many others would like to be able to play this on Linux and with the upcoming Steam Machine (Linux OS) and already Steam Deck it is a messed opportunity. I have seen other extraction shooter games that have enabled proton-users to play.

Hello there,
Thank you for reaching out to us.
Marathon is currently only supported on Windows, Xbox Series X|S, and PS5. However, player feedback requests about possible support have been sent to the dev team for consideration. Please note, however, that we cannot guarantee this means you will see Linux support introduced for Marathon.
I second this. I've moved away from Windows but would still like to give this game a shot.
Windows exclusivity at this point in time where Windows is getting worse and worse and shipping broken updates increasingly more often doesn't make sense. There's a real momentum behind enthusiasts switching to Linux for a reason. You can maintain competitive integrity on Linux and there's no doubt in my mind that in five years you're going to be forced to do it anyways, so why not now? You can either be proactive about it or reactive.
Please reconsider. We're not asking for native ports or support of any kind really, just not active sabotage. Send the email to BattlEye and it's almost guaranteed to work out of the box.
I want to give you my money, however, as they say... #NoTuxNoBux
I dream of a world where Marathon could run on Linux. I also ditched Windows months ago and realized I get better performances there so I don't think I'll come back to Windows anytime soon. I loved the trailers about this game and would really love to play it.
Between the intrusive espionage telemetry, the resource gouging AI, the Microslop account, and the ads within the operating environment, Windows has become an intolerable platform to many players, and more people are turning away from it every day.
Direct support for Linux would be incredible.
Also would like to voice support for enabling Linux/Proton support for marathon
On a related note, EA is hiring specifically for Javelin to support ARM devices and Linux/Proton.

please consider setting the anticheat to allow linux
other potential compatibility issues will be fixed in proton
