Film grain / static background in menus and in specific cases while in matches

PC / Steam

2/27/2026 - Occurred since launch of server slam

Repro Steps - Do not know how I caused this to occur, or if it has occurred since launch

While in menus, settings, and in specific areas in matches, a film grain and or static affect is clearly visible everywhere, especially in darker UI areas. Tried going through all video/graphical settings to see if it were any specific setting, but no solution was presented. Saw there was a similar post that Bungie Support responded to (https://help.marathonthegame.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/46688512842900/comments/46688814976020). Went through and uninstalled Marathon, cleared Steam download caches, re-installed Marathon, and no changes. Assuming this is a bug, as when going to look for the same effect on streams and videos, there was none. Even launched OBS to see it the effect presented on OBS and it had.

Attached will be a YouTube video that shows what I have explained above, as well as showing my PC Specs listed below for confirmation.

To the developer reading this at Bungie, thank you for all your hard work, not just the support team, but all the teams working on Marathon and Destiny. Don't listen to the haters, this game is really fun, at least from my first 7-ish hours.

PC Specs:

  • GPU - AMD Radeon RTX 9070 XT (have overclocked this GPU, -20 voltage offset / 2556 Max Frequency (MHz) / 10% Power Limit)
  • CPU - 12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-12600k
  • OS - Window 11

Recorded from OBS - https://youtu.be/A4dhkfbB0w0

Recorded from AMD Software - https://youtu.be/JtAtkmtxpPo

The two video are almost the same however, when reviewing the footage, the OBS recording showed the effect mentioned but not nearly as bad as how I see it. The AMD Software does not seem to pick it up at all. Put both onto this post just incase, however I will note again that the effect mentioned above looks A LOT WORSE than it does on the recordings.

Hope this is everything the support team needs to help out. Please feel free to comment if you would like any more information.

Thank you,
