Steam account issue (game crashing).

On my main Steam account, when connecting / searching for an update, or to be more precise — after clicking 'Next' following the intro — the game closes/crashes. I tried it on another account, and the game launches just fine there. I've already deleted everything related to the cloud config, and it still happens. https://steamcommunity.com/id/Kaelwhael/ — here's my main Steam account where the game crashes. Please help.

    Hi there,

    Thank you for reaching out.

I'm sorry to hear that you are having issues with the game closing when trying to play the game.

To start out, fully exit Steam, restart your PC, and then launch Steam. We'd then recommend trying to verify the game file integrity through steam, and trying to Steam as administrator and try again. If the issue persists, please ensure that all of your drivers, windows, and your BIOS are all fully up-to-date and try temporarily disabling Steam and third-party overlays, and disconnect any additional controllers before retrying.

If you still run into the same issue despite all of this, can you provide us with a copy of your DxDiag? You can copy and paste it over on PasteBin and provide us with the link.

  • Please re-read my issue. The thing is, the game launches on other accounts and everything works fine, but when I try to log into my main account, the game just crashes. (I used another account to make sure the problem wasn't on my end.)

  • Hi again,

Thanks for clarifying. Could you confirm whether you tested that account on the same PC and the same Marathon installation? If so, an account-specific issue becomes more likely. If it was tested on a different machine or installation, we would still need to rule out local PC or installation-related causes.

If the crashing is still occurring, please provide the approximate date and time including your time zone of the crash, a screenshot of any error message or code as well as your Windows Event Viewer log from the crash. In Event Viewer, please check Windows Logs > Application for an error recorded at the time of the crash and include the faulting application, faulting module, and exception code if shown.

    • What's below is written in the system. Nothing is written in the application log, neither before launch nor after the crash. And yes, I tested both accounts on the same PC. The game crashes without any error messages.
    • https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9FnM-khYS-0 I'll attach a video of the game launching and crashing.

  • I tried it on a friend's PC with my account — it crashes the same way as it does on mine.

  • Should I download a separate program that can show the logs?

  • Hi again,

    Thanks for sending the video.

The Event Viewer entries you provided only show the BattlEye BEDaisy driver loading and unloading; they do not show a crash error. You do not need to download any additional programs.

Could you please try these troubleshooting steps:

    • Fully exit Steam, restart your PC, and launch Steam again.
    • Confirm that Marathon is fully updated and patched to the latest version
    • Verify the integrity of Marathon’s files through Steam.
    • Launch Steam as administrator and try again.
    • Temporarily disable Steam and third-party overlays, and disconnect any additional controllers.

If the above doesn't help, please provide the following information so that we can investigate this further:

    • The exact error shown when the account fails to log in on the other PC, if any appeared
    • The date and time of when this started happening
    • A DxDiag from the PC where the crash occurs. You can copy and paste it over on PasteBin and provide us with the link.

  • If another support agent is reading this, please read the entire conversation to understand the issue. And let me remind you: Please re-read my issue. The thing is, the game launches on other accounts and everything works fine, but when I try to log into my main account, the game just crashes. (I used another account to make sure the problem wasn't on my end.)
