Restarting Intel frame gen while in raid gives perfect performance, but acts sluggish if on before raid starts.
A few key details: 3070 8gb, Ryzen 5600x, 32gb 3200mhz Ram, 144hz 1440p Monitor. Avg fps without frame gen 60-90fps map dependant. The input delay I describe isn't timed, rather it's the general feeling compared to snappy/responsive games that I don't use frame gen with.
I tried using Ryzen frame gen, but the input lag is incredibly high for the frames you get (feels like 1.5 seconds), and there's visual glitches when you ADS like your runner is drunk or crossing their eyes because of how poorly it's meshing the frames. That being said, I randomly decided to try Intel frame gen without knowing it's based on if your GPU is compatable with either Intel or Ryzen frame gen software, not your CPU. I was in raid when I turned on the Intel frame gen and I instantly got 160-190fps with less than .5 seconds of input lag. No visual glitches, and I could tell my monitor was running at 144hz because of how smooth both the visuals and the inputs were. I got so excited I tracked down the info about why it works with my CPU and then hopped into my next raid. The moment I started the raid I noticed the in game fps counter was hovering around 110, and it felt like there was 1 second of input lag. After 2 minutes I decided to restart the frame gen to see if I could replicate my experience the previous raid. Instantly after restarting Intel frame gen while in raid I got the exact same behavior. Smooth as silk (144hz monitor behavior) and an fps counter intermittently bouncing between ~160-190fps on Perimeter.
My question is do you know why this is happening, is the behavior replicable on other pc's, and while I have enough experience with 144hz gaming to know the difference between 60-80fps vs frame gen vs actual 144fps+ I still wonder if it's somehow placebo when all evidence is telling me I'm actually getting 144 frames. Also, if this is a Buuug please leave it alone. I would rather feel like I'm playing 144hz and go through the trouble of turning on frame gen every match to stay competitive than deal with 60fps average on every map but Perimeter. Yada yada anticipate your response, but genuinely grateful for any dev time spent answering my question. Love the game and hoping for the best in Bungie's future!
