Microstutter with no apparent cause, irreverent of settings
Hello, I have a ryzen 9800x3d, 32gb ddr5 6400mz ram, and a 9070xt. I get 90fps+, and most of the time its 144+. About half the time I play the game, I have crazy frame lag, which seems to go undetected by the in game, steam, and AMD overlays. The AMD overlay does have an interesting metric that seems to spike when I get these lag sections, called "Microstutter". Usually around 10-20%. During normal gameplay its 0, and then my frame rate metrics match what I'm seeing. I dont know what that means, but the correlation is there and so thats what I'm calling the frame lag Im getting. It occurs in menus as well, and it doesnt correlate with any computer part usage spiking.
I have not noticed anything that brings it on or off. I've changed settings, changed resolution, restarted game, computer, and it feels like if I start a session with microstutter, its going to stay for the entire session no matter what I do. That said, I have 8 hour game sessions where I get perfect frames the entire time. Weather events in game have no bearing on my frame rate. This is such an odd issue that I havent had before. That said, this is a new computer. On other shooters I get perfect frames with max settings. The only other game this seems to happen with is Destiny 2, which did not have this issue on my old computer. Im therefore led to believe this is on my end, but Im at my wits end with how to fix this. Thanks!

Hello there,
Thank you for your report.
What you’re describing – smooth FPS on overlays, but noticeable hitching/microstutter that sometimes persists for an entire session and sometimes doesn’t, including in menus – matches a performance issue we’re currently tracking. The AMD “Microstutter” metric spiking while FPS appears stable is consistent with frame pacing problems rather than raw performance drops.
We are currently looking into these situations.
