Crashing on load in and BSOD post patch

Hello,

After the 3/11 patch, I'm still experiencing crashing to desktop on load in. And today, for the first time since I rolled my Nvida drives back to the Jan update, my computer BSOD during a run. This hasn't happened at all since I rolled back on the 5th and played runs fine for 12 hours. My CPU temps are high on this game, but it hasn't caused crashing before, so I'm not sure what changed to make the game now unplayable for me. It's a shame, because I was really enjoying it, but it would appear this update may have broke something, at least on my machine.

  • Bungie Account Name - Jessterplays#1030
  • Platform - Steam
  • Description of Issue - Crashing every every other round, when loading in to a match. BSOD mid run.
  • Rough Date and Time of issue - 03/11/2026, 11:05 am EST for the BSOD. Maybe 15ish mins prior for the crash on load in, it was at the start of that run.
  • Repro steps - Just loading in to one.  No error code, the game just closes. Also, BSOD during run.

    Hi there,

    Thanks for reaching out.

Did you by chance recently install a new Nvidia driver version? If so, please try reinstalling that version to see if that helps. If it doesn't, we'd recommend you try reverting to a previous driver version, as that may help alleviate the issues you're experiencing.

    Please keep us posted!

  • I haven't updated to the latest drivers (595.79) as when I updated to the previous drivers, that's what caused the BSOD the first time on launch day. Other than crashing to desktop on every other run, I've been playing fine until today after the update.

I can try updating to the latest drivers and see if that helps, but I'm concerned there my be an issue impacting my CPU (i9-14900k) and wonder if there is a root cause. I don't have these issues with other games, so I don't know if Marathon is causing some type of voltage / heat spike when playing for whatever reason.

After I update my Nvidia drivers later, I'll try and do some runs and see if it blue screens again and update this thread.

  • Update to this, I updated my Nvidia drivers and lowered all my settings just to see if the game would run. It did, but caused multiple CPU spikes that made my temps go over 90c and out of fear of damaging my CPU, I just turned it off. At this point, I believe this game is causing some type of CPU instability, even more so for 13th and 14th gen Intel CPUs, so I'm just going to not play until a couple updates come out to see if any more optimization is done for PC. Really unfortunate that I can't play the game anymore, but I guess that's just how PC gaming works now a days.
