Bungie Answered
Locked from joining or inviting
My daughter’s account has all social settings locked and I am unable to unlock them. I have disabled all her Steam parental controls, linked her Bungie account to mine, and granted her all access under Marathon parental controls though Bungie.net.
She is able to start a game in Marathon and it will crew fill. However she cannot see my party invites or invite me. I was able to get in a party with her using a Steam chat to join us together, but then it prevented me from actually starting the game.
In Marathon’s settings, everything on the social tab is locked out. How do I unlock her account?

Hi there,
Thanks for reaching out.
To keep our players safe, we recently launched a system that considers player age to help us manage everyone's information legally, responsibly, and with important protective safeguards for our younger players.
We cannot collect some types of information or allow access to some game features for players under a certain age without confirmation from their parents. Young players will need to link their account with a parent, guardian, or other responsible adult’s account in order to access certain features, such as joining text or voice chat.
Young players are classified as:
The parent, guardian or other responsible adult needs to have a Bungie.net account and verify that they are an adult. Please review our Date of Birth Requirements article for more information and setup instructions.
For more information about the date of birth requirements, please see our help article here.
Thank you for your reply. I have followed the instructions for verifying my parental account, linking my child's account, and enabling all access.
We are still having the problem - below are a screenshot of her game, and the parental controls I have configured.
Hello again,
Unfortunately, we can only suggest that you try the process again if it didn't work the first time; removing then re-establishing the parental link should help alleviate the issue.
I was able to resolve the issue by logging into my daughter's account on Bungie.net, going to parental controls, and enabling the social settings inside her account. The same settings I had already enabled for her, from my parental account, had to ALSO be enabled within her own account.
I've never experienced where both the parent AND child had to enable specific parental control settings to access features. This was a very strange experience, I am sharing with you because I am not convinced that is correct.
I do not need anything further, my issue is resolved at this time. Thank you.
